Hip Pain

Hip Pain Treatment NYCHip pain can come from many causes:

  • Arthritis
  • Bursitis
  • Groin injuries
  • Illiotibial band syndrome
  • Impingement syndrome
  • Labral tears
  • Piriformis syndrome
  • Surgical procedures (such as hip resurfacing, hip replacement, or labral repair)
  • Tendonitis

In addition, patients often seek consultation for frustrating hip pain that is undiagnosed and unrelieved after months of failed physical therapy, anti-inflammatory use, and rest.

Our Approach

Hip pain of muscular origin is the most commonly misdiagnosed condition we see. It can exacerbate any of the above conditions, but never given its due.

Strengthening and stretching tissues that are weak or tight due to scar tissue, adhesions, or chronic strain rarely works. These hip irritations must be removed or greatly reduced before exercise therapy is introduced.

We are experts in hip pain therapies such as myofasical release, Active Release Technique®, as well as Trigger Point Therapy and other adjuncts such as acupuncture.
